Review

This is official description

PDF4Free creates PDF files from any Windows application running on Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows NT (SP3 ), Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Server 2008/2003. The software installs itself as a print driver, all you have to do is to click "Print" from your application to create PDF files. PDF4Free is complete freeware PDF creator. Users may create PDF files as many as they want. However, the features of the software are limited to PDF creation with font embedding, title, subject, author, keyword information embedding

The following review written by one of the Software Informer contributors applies to version 2.0

PDF4Free is a PDF file creator and also a sort of converter. It allows you to create PDF files from virtually any application that has printing support, which nowadays most of them have. PDF4Free doesn't have a user interface. To use the application, you have to "print" a file using the virtual printer that it installs. If you click on printer settings, you will be able to access a few settings that you can change. Most of the settings have to do with page layout and fonts, though.

PDF4Free embeds some information on the PDF files that it creates. It can keep some basic information like author, description, and keywords. Another thing that this app does is tag your files with the legend "PDF Creator - PDF4Free v2" so that other users that come in contact with your files will learn about the application. I personally don't see a problem with that.

In my testing, I created a PDF file out of a website (NY TIMES). The file didn't keep the exact formatting that the website had, but all text was editable and the color of the text and all images were there. To create text PDF files, you would probably want to use Word or something like that and then convert to PDF using this.
  • It can create PDF files from any app with print support.
  • None, if you don't mind an app without a graphical user interface.
